My Souk show, & other current things
There is so much happening right now.

I'm gearing up for my solo show at Smoke Gallery in Niagara Falls, Canada. That should open on the First Saturday of October. There is little time left to finish all the paintings and get them shipped. I hope to be able to go to the opening as well...

My show at Souk opened this week on First Thursday. Souk is a very cool shared office space available for freelancers, etc. Find out more here: http://soukllc.com . I'm excited about the show and also the space - I'm going to be curating it.

The Rake space has new owners - very nice people. The gallery is now called Ankh. They have been making some changes and the space looks beautiful. I do miss Rake... but there may be future things in store for the Rake group in time.

The new show goes up at Hopworks soon - Ben Pink is curating this one - (we're curating the space together) - and it will be a fabulous solo show of Jennifer Mercede's works. More info TBA as soon as we know the opening date and time. Until then, check out Nathan Clark's awesome abstract paintings!

Let's see. What else? Ah yes. speaking of TBA, but in another way - PICA's TBA fest has kicked off. I went to the opening party the other night - much fun. They've done a great job with the venue for that and setup. I had a great time helping with the giant black and white "Hush" collaborative live painting. I hope the photos will be blogged from that... . The TBA fest always comes at crazy times for me, right when I have so many projects going on that I can barely break away. I do hope to catch the Yes Men exhibit soon at PNCA's Feldman Gallery and select other things.

In January I may be curating yet another salon... more about that soon.

In October, Meghan Kleinheinz is going to be my guest curator at Blondie salon. Stay tuned...

Also in October is Launchpad Gallery's Dreams show. I am going to have a piece in it; so will about 100 other artists. Check out Launchpad Gallery if you haven't here

I have a call out for artists of course, ongoing, and now also for at least one assistant. I am hoping for an intern that will then develop into a paid position with time. Please contact me at mwallulisart@gmail.com &/or 971.255.1385 if you are interested. You must be organized, have high attention to detail, be great at multi-tasking, be an artist or have a strong interest in the Arts as well as an interest in the art world and business of art. There are a variety of tasks to help with; we will customize the internship toward your own goals as well.

Thank you to everyone who came to my opening this week at Souk. Special thanks to Rex Jantze for all his help, Tristan, Julie, Sam Cooper & Providence Plantations for playing, and of course Souk for hosting the show! It will be up for the month; gallery hours are regular business hours or by appointment. Check out the event posted on facebook here.

There is so much more to write about, but this will have to suffice for now.

A new blog!
Nice! Happiness is a new blog in which to write.

There is much going on for me currently. I am excited about a potential new door opening in my artlife.
Artlife meaning there is little to no separation at this point. Perhaps that is as it should be.

I'm reading a book that I recommend - it's called Art & Fear.
Check it out, whether you are an artist or not, it provides some great insight into the world of artmaking.
I also think it overly generalizes, and would like to bring up many of the topics for discussion at the
next artist salon.

It's been a pleasure reconnecting with Brian Mathus! Great painter, very talented. It's also been wonderful
continuing to work with Tamara English. I'm excited for her show coming up in July at Mark Woolley's.

I have soo many photos to upload of recent shows, including some pics from my live painting at the Round,
both in Portland and then in Seattle. I'm sad to have missed the one where both Jaik Faulk and Nathan
Clark painted live on the same stage... I heard great things about it from those who attended and also
the artists themselves.

ah, the birds are singing; almost 5 am; I'm still awake...

More writing will happen soon. I feel the writer's block cracking again...
